The original band, Nik & the Nice Guys, was formed AT THE HOOT OWL after a SLU varsity hockey practice in October 1971!
Gary Webb ‘73, Mike Keenan ‘72, Eric Sandford ‘73 and Ron Harris ‘73 were enjoying 25 cent beers - then we came up with the name. We thought about hiring Jacques Martin ‘74, but he could only sing in French.

The group disbanded upon graduation, but re-formed in the 1980's in Rochester, NY when Keenan was coaching the AHL Rochester Amerks.
Originally, the recreated Nik was a means for daytime business professionals to become nighttime party animals, raising funds for charity. With continued success, however, the band has evolved into a full-time professional organization.
Several other bands have been added to the Nik Entertainment stable over the years in response to the demand for specialized themes. Today the organization boasts of a cadre of over 100 artists and event professionals who are committed to providing the ultimate party experience.
