JOESLU.com is a low-key, interactive site but offers business contacts, forums for posting questions and topics, as well as a general board to keep up on what’s happening at The Hoot.

You need no password to access the Hoot Owl Express Board, it’s the daily news of the Hoot; or simply log in and post a topic on the Hoot Owl Express Board. (It’s easy to sign up and sign in.)

Things we are working on:

Richard J. Struzzi Memorial Award - JOE SLU will create a fund to honor one of the Hoot's most beloved bartenders and North Country friend. A local Canton charity will be selected each year. We will be requesting small donations to build a fund to honor our friend Struzzi. It's the power of JOE SLU.

The first awards will be going to The Sem Fund which is an organization founded by John Fay. His tireless work is assisting developing countries with the ability to provide microfinancing.

Microfinance is the provision of financial services to poor people in developing countries who lack access to the commercial banking system. The website is www.sem-fund.org.

In addition, we will be honoring "Struzzi," by selecting a local Canton charity and making a donation in his honor.

Details will be forthcoming and we are excited to have the chance to have the JOESLU community give back to two very worthy charities.

THESLU – a posting area for short stories, photography, poetry, and artistic writings or prints that you would like to share with the JOESLU community. In addition, publicize cultural events as well as seek support for local community organizations.

Hidden Archives / Composites - historic photos, including fraternity and sorority composites from days gone by. It will be a collective and reflective spot to archive the social history of both the Hoot Owl and Greek life from a bygone era.

Coming in September, The First Annual Hoot Owl Video Championship! This contest will be the best video posted to the site that incorporates, humor, fun, and shamelessly promotes JOE SLU and the Hoot Owl. Videos will be 3-minutes in length, (give or take 15 seconds), will not contain excessive alcohol references or drinking, and will not mock or ridicule anyone . JOE SLU will reinforce the golden rule, "Be Good or be Gone." Final contest format and prizes will be posted in September with submissions due in late October 2009. Details are forthcoming!

We value any suggestions you think will help make JOESLU a site for business referrals, as well as the latest and greatest news from the Hoot Owl. JOESLU LLC is conducting a giveaway prize package for a two-night stay in Canton, NY. Eligible entrants must have registered for the TWOSLU Club by 11/24/2009. The package will include a two-night stay at a local Inn or hotel and $200 to cover meals and expenses. Happy hours at the Hoot Owl will be on the house! There is no purchase necessary. Winners will agree to have several photos of their weekend displayed on the web site, JOESLU.com. The number of registrants of the TWOSLU Club will determine odds of winning. Winners will be drawn at random by the Senior Partner of Lisman, Webster, & Leckerling, P.C., Attorneys at Law, 84 Pine Street, Burlington, VT 05402. Drawing will be held November 25, 2009 with Winners notified on Thanksgiving Day. Weekend will be determined by winners schedule and availability of accommodations. Prize cannot be substituted and must be redeemed by 4/31/2010.
