Bar Dancing! The Hoot Owl was established over 30 years ago by Dan Fay and Bill Helmer in the infamous railroad station as a college/sports dive. The Hoot has had many a memorable moment...from the Hoot Olympics to 8AM Lime Rickeys to the unforgettable 'Good Night Ladies', there is never a dull moment while partying at the Hoot. The Hoot was founded and continues to be a place to meet old and new friends while having a few drinks. Come with a group of friends or by yourself, we strive to make everyone feel at home. The Hoot wants everyone to have a good time, but always remember....'Be Nice'.

BartendersThe Hoot is located in the small northern New York college town of Canton, New York. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Saint Lawrence University, providing local 'derelicts' the ability to walk (or crawl) home after getting drunk as a hoot owl. Avoiding drinking and driving is not 'a go to Harvard exercise' so management encourages overnight parking and will always provide a sober ride to anyone who has had 'a few too many pops'! Any further information on the History of the Hoot can only be gained by heading down to experience the HOOT for yourself.
